First Isaac Movie

So, here it is; my first short video of Isaac hosted on Flickr. I give you Isaac's First Christmas:

I'm absolutely chuffed how well the quality came out of Faye's little camera - it looks way better than the flash version in the original. I'm also amazed how much Isaac has changed in the last few months since Christmas! He's changing so quickly at the moment - standing up and shaking the bars of the stair gate (testing my DIY - see; he knows my weaknesses!), mimicking sounds and actions, it's amazing.

Anyway, up to now I have rarely taken videos of Isaac, but now I can share them on Flickr with friends and family, I might take more. Kepp your eyes peeled Smile

Happy Birthday Isaac

Today, at 0215, Faye gave birth to an 8lb 8oz baby boy; our son - Isaac. He is the most beautiful thing in the world. I'm the happiest man there ever was. Faye is the most incredible person I know. Those of you who can, can see them both here. Happy Birthday, Isaac.

I need to butch up and FAST!

Oh man, I could be in trouble! Those who know me well know that I'm fairly squeamish - I've told stories in the past about my needle aversions. I went to my second parentcraft class yesterday with Faye - we're only 2 weeks away from our due date now.

About 30 minutes in to the class, the care worker started talking about various pain relief options for Faye during labour. She started with gas and air - all very interesting - then moved on to TENS machines - all good so far.

Then she started talking about Pethidine - a jab injected into the upper thigh. I immediately started to feel faint. Now bear in mind, I'm in a room with 6 other expectant couples, I'm desperate not to make myself look like a fool, so I decide to sit it out.

On to Epidurals. An injection given into the lower back, into the spinal area. I start to go clammy and pale. Then a description of what happens if the epidural is given in the wrong place - the doctor has to extract some spinal fluid, mix it with blood and then re-inject it. I go green and the walls start moving in.

I had to leave and walk round the waiting room for a bit or I would have hit the deck.

I need to get a handle on this before the birth starts - I really could do with not passing out in the delivery room. I think I should try and de-sensitise myself by sitting through a series or two of ER (although the over-acting in that makes me feel more nauseous than the gore). Any other ideas?

220 pounds and scared of needles! What a wuss!

Baby update!

Faye and I have recently had our 20 week scan - I'll upload the pictures to my private flickr space in due course. I'm pleased to report that all is OK so far - little baby is growing well. When you see the scan, it certainly looks to me like it has my feet (woe; specialist shoe costs!).

I spent the weekend putting up floorboards in the loft to hold my study furniture so I can turn it into the nursery. Justin, Faye's brother, was a massive help. I'm finishing off this weekend then the big move can begin .

We've also chosen a pram. A Quinny Buzz. Gadgets for fathers; they caught me hook line and sinker! I managed to resist the prams with alloy wheels, independent suspension, disk braking, tilt steering, etc., but only just .

I really can't underestimate how excited I am about becoming a father; I feel I should apologies now to those I see on a regular basis - I know I rarely talk about anything else. In fact, I think I'll add a blog entry about the other new arrival in my family after this one to offset slightly.

I'm the most excited person in the world!

For those of you with a flickr account that I have marked as a friend / family, here's the reason why I'm the most excited person in the world:
